Chevy came into rescue in September. He was scheduled for euthanasia in Sebring, Fl. They were actually prepping him on the table for euthanasia when we finally got through to them and got him pulled through our rescue. This was just the beginning of his journey. He was severely emaciated, had whip worms, and was full of ticks (his foster mom stopped counting after 100 when she was removing them). He had to have an emergency visit because they thought he had Parvo, but it turned out to be an intestinal parasite. On top of everything he is heart worm positive. After spending two months with a foster mom in Gainesville gaining weight and receiving care for the parasites, he was then ready to come back to Port Charlotte to begin his heart worm treatment. He had to be on antibiotics for 30 days and he has received his first heart worm treatment injection now. In another month he will receive his last 2 injections and another month after that he will be ready for adoption.
